PH at Papua New Guinea Joint Rice Development Project, lumagda ng kasunduan

Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel Piñol and Papuan Agriculture and Livestock Minister Benny Allan sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Joint Rice Development Project between the Republic of the Philippines and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in a ceremony at the Pacific Adventists University in Papua New Guinea on November 16, 2018.

The said project seeks to promote the agricultural cooperation of the Philippines and Papua New Guinea on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Isang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ang nilagdaan nina Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol at Papua New Guinea Livestock Minister Benny Allan, patungkol sa pagpapalitan ng technical assistance at pagkakaroon ng joint research hinggil sa agrikultura.

Sa ilalim ng nilagdaang kasunduan, ay magkakaroon ng kooperasyon sa produksiyon ng bigas, cocoa, kape, rubber at palm oil, gayundin sa aquaculture at inland fishfarming.

Dagdag pa dito ang areas of cooperation sa post harvest development, livestock breeding habang may pagtutulungan din patungkol sa aspeto ng training na may kinalaman sa bio- security mechanism, development of agri-businesses, at training sa irrigation facilities for large scale rice production.

Magpapalitan din ng kasanayan na may kaugnayan sa agrikultura ang DA at PNG Livestock Department ng kanilang mga scientist, technicians at  mga magsasaka, habang saklaw din ng MOA ang exchange in genetic materials, technologies and scientific at technical information.

Kahapon ay nagsagawa ng inspeksiyon sina Pinol, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo sa PNG rice demonstration farm, na nagsisilbing source ng rice seeds ng Papua New Guinea  para sa commercial at sa kanilang small holder farmers.
