The respondents of the national PAHAYAG SONA survey conducted between August 1-11, 2020 identified President Rodrigo Duterte as the top 5 leader who most shows love, concern, and care for the country.
Respondents were provided a list of the top five government officials — Duterte, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, and Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta — and asked to choose who among them shows love, concern, and care for the country, respectively.
68.3% of respondents said Duterte is the top five leader who shows love for the country. He was followed by Robredo at a distant second place (20.7%), then Sotto (2.1%), Cayetano (0.9%), and Peralta (0.2%). 7.8% answered that none of these officials show love for the country.
61.7% of respondents also said Duterte is the leader among the five who shows concern for the country, followed by Robredo (24.7%), Sotto (3.7%), Cayetano (3%), and Peralta (0.7%). 6.3% answered that none of them show concern for the country.
Meanwhile, 61.3% of respondent said that Duterte shows care for the country. Robredo was in second place again with 24.7, followed by Sotto (3.9%), Cayetano (3.2%), and Peralta (1.3%). 7.8% of respondents answered that none of the five top officials show care for the country.
The President was also the top pick of respondents when asked who among the top five leaders is decisive. 62.5% of respondents said Duterte is decisive. He was followed by Robredo (18.4%), Sotto (4.1%), Cayetano (2.6%), and Peralta (1.2%). One out of ten respondents answered that none of the five leaders were decisive.

Invitations to answer the structured online survey questionnaire were distributed to the Philippine panel population on a random basis. Potential panel respondents were screened to possess the following characteristics: aged 18 years old and above, registered voter, and residing in the Philippines. The sample was then drawn in proportion to the registered voting population as of the May 2019 elections.
